Ginza, not Shibuya...

OK I am getting old. That's why I like Ginza more than Shinjuku or Shibuya now. (So funny that friends in Japan of my age also saying same thing! Not just a tourist thing then).

Dont think I am too into the Ginza department stores, but the traditional Japanese cake shops, the tea houses, the best sushi restuarants, and "niche" shops like this increibly well-stocked camera shop (look at the logo!) are so charming.

Reminded me that when I was young, during one of my earliest trips to Japan, I had a novel-guidebook (which I have lost!) that describe the "old world" and all the history and traditions in Tokyo. It goes area by area, and describes the history behind Ueno, Shinbashi, Asakusa, Ningyocho, etc....and I will soak up all that's left on the modernized street to find that historical references to Old Tokyo. My sister will probably remember some of these trips when we were traveling as poor students, and walking for hours on, roaming Tokyo...oh wow, that must be like 10 years ago!!
