Art Journal #56: Pawn Shop @ The Shop, Vitamin BJ

What a fun concept! Artists can pawn their work or their belonging (so its not necessarily artwork that you see), and they get money in return. Interesting take on the collapse of the art market, when artists might need to do that to make a living?! For a fixed period, the work is displayed in The Shop, Vitamin's outpost in BJ. If the artist didnt come back and redeem it, then The Shop can sell it.

Interesting set of work, from good to strange. Look forward to seeing how the Pawn Shop will really work - who will buy? I like the concept of Chun Yun's installation. But otherwise think his other works were more interesting. The redemption period ends on Oct16 - so what will be left in the Shop? With this, the project hence is living, moving, and very interactive with both the artists and the participants!
