Art journal #138: Artist Inclusion of The East and West" @ HK Museum of Art

Hidden gem of a show in HKMOA! Juxtapositioning 'export painters' from GZ in China in Qing Dynasty vs. their western counterparts. Didnt know that before Da-Fen Village, there's already a vibrant community of artisans taking on western techniques (and in many case, actual visuals) and selling their works outside China. Though these were often not done with perfect execution - as seen in the misuse of perspective that the exhibition so painstakingly pointed out (which actually does make it hilarious at point). So, we at South China has always been the world's factory, and its not just electronics of to-date, but art >100 years ago?

PS - silly observation; the 'export painter' above sitting at his desk painting a nude woman looks like...he's sitting in front of a computer screen with his mouse on the right hand side!
