Art Journal #66: Zhang Huan at Taipei MOCA

Another good show at Taipei MOCA. Not world-class curating but a good selection across his career, with videos, very large installations, paintings. And certainly a big name that we dont get to see in HK.

Had always liked his ash paintings. And even though he didnt do it himself, I guess there's a rationale behind his factory/assembly line approach of doing art. Which is turning from body performance art in his early days where execution is the concept, to a large multitude of work where he's cranking out all his various ideas through an army of artists - like a collective in some ways?

His new work even includes opera! Apparently that will be shown in Shanghai EXPO. Interesting. Should go see.
