HK public libraries

I must not have set foot in a public library for 20 years in HK - probably since Form 7 (I used to go to study room a lot during A-Levels). Was amused (but really shouldnt be, and should expect it) that now in HK libraries, there's electronic counters everywhere. You put in your HKID card to activate. But of course my HKID is useless since I never registered for any library service in HK.

The check in/check out counter is huge - in fact just like the immigration counter at airport (that long!). The actual library is not that different from before - rolls of bookshelves with calming smell of books.

Its actually quite crowded. Good to see that HK people are enjoying some good old fashion activities too (beyond shopping and all)?

PS - needless to say, the building architecture is horrific, not even worth a mention...sigh, thats our public buildings in HK.
