Interesting show concept. Great to see his students returning and working with and on top of his work as a tribute as he retires. But found that students are too "obedient" (read: boring) - they just create a work and put it side by side to Lui's original. The more daring ones will cut up the original and create sth really new - eg, from the videos projected onto the original canvas, to real cut-up pieces and sewed back together to make a new work. Tsang Kin Wah's complete reinterpretation to make his wall installation is the most interesting of all!

Art journal #97: Lui Chun Kwong @ Osage
