Art journal #119: National Gallery of Art, DC

Nice few shows - there's a Gauguin on; and the Venice painting show "Canaletto and His Rivals" is a fascinating one. Learnt tons about Venice! History on how the British (tourists) become such big patrons of Italian painters, and interesting story about his cousin, etc.

"In the Tower" by Nam Jun Paik is amazing!!! Perhaps I shouldnt have missed Tate Liverpool show...but never crossed my mind I'd go that far!

With both the NJP and the Gauguin, made me wonder - did they have a deal with Tate? Both were shown there recently. And best of all, all these museums are free in DC!
