Scenes of Sichuan earthquake aftermath still shock and touch me. But you see really big differences between photos used by the HK press vs. their Chinese counterparts. Neither gives the full story, in some ways. But there's a clear bias in the Mainland press to focus on the positives. You dont see people in wheelchairs, with artificial limbs. Its almost hard for someone who live most of his life in a place with freedom of speech (which I do think is taken to extremes sometimes) to image getting only one side of the story. In any case, I still wonder whether I can make a trip to Sichuan soon, to witness; whether I can do sth, to help, in whatever way I can. Went to the National Art Museum of China today, there was show by a local photographer who went to Sichuan after 512. A somewhat patriotic but nonetheless shunning photo here.
