Art journal #141: LA County Museum of Art

Never been here, was drawn by the Ai Weiwei Zodiac work (so glad to see it in real!!! I thought I will miss it for good after Central Park); but ended up seeing many other great works - plus the 'HOLLYWOOD' sign from afar.

Chris Burden's Metropolis II is mesmerising in its depiction of LA's highways and organised chaos. Love Nam Jun Paik's American flag TVs, Bruce Nauman's large scale video and early work 'For Beginners'. The Charles Eames home replicate added a new must-visit site to the list for LA next time - the real one Eames home in Pacific Palisades!

Of course one wont forget the photogenic Chris Burden 'urban light' work, made of old street lamps from the 1920s collected from all across LA and given new life outside LACMA, representing how a civilised society is kept safe (and in style) after dark.
